He won't stay asleep!

The little stinker won't stay asleep tonight. And hubby is on call. And I still need to pump so the sitter and my mom will have enough milk for next week. And I have to pee. And I really want a Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr Pepper float. And did I mention that I have to pee?

When I lay him down he wakes up within 5 minutes. He has minor reflux (not enough for meds). Do you think that could be it? He's also been drooling like crazy -- has a rash on the bottom of his 2nd chin because of it. And he's teething.

He's 5 months old. And I need to pee. And I want my float. :waiting:

I'm so glad I never had to go through that first year sleeping stuff. Nikolai has slept like a rock star for the most part since we brought him home. I don't know how you moms get through it.

I'm sure he'd sleep in my bed (yes, hubby is a ped intern and we co-sleep). I don't want to go to bed yet and won't leave him alone on the bed.

OK. I'm going to lay him in the playpen and try to pee, wash and dry hands and then I'll see if there's time for the float. Wish me luck 'cause now I really have to pee!

can he sleep on your chest lying down? how about reclined in a chair? can you elevate the head of his bed with some books? i know you must have some thick medical books hanging around!

how about a swing? swaddled in his car seat? bouncy seat that vibrates? i have taken the car seat to bed before. anything to get some sleep.

Oh poop! I got to pee but wasted valuable float-making time changing from my cargo capris to yoga pants. I really want the float more than the time to pump at this point. LOL

I'm sure I'm too late, but I used to pump with DS propped in between my legs and reclining back on my tummy. I would sit criss-cross and rest the bottles on my knees for support so I had my hands free to entertain/feed/deal with DS and I got the pumping done. I hope that made sense. :huh: When I finally figured out that move my nights went so much better!!! I was only able to pump, so for a while I would feed him get him to sleep and than I would have to pump. With the recliner position I cut the "chores" in half

I put him in his bouncy seat. He's now playing at 11:15 p.m. Is that a bad thing? LOL

Some nights you do what you gotta do, and if playing at 11pm is it....that's what you do.

When Daegan is teething, we don't sleep. He wakes every few minutes, unless he's latched on...I often can't break the latch for the entire night. His latch is poor when he's teething and my nipples get sooo sore....it's always when he's teething that I talk about nightweaning. Of course when we're going through it, I never realize what it is....but after a few nights of it, he goes back to his sweet sleeping self and I realize what the problem was.

I often pump one side at a a time, yeah it takes twice as long and theoretically you get less milk but I have trouble balancing the pump, so I have to hold it. I also can't pump and recline....I wish....that's awesome that you can Gwen....I always have to lean forward some.

I've said over and over again that I'm going to make a pumping bra, but I haven't. There's a description on sleepingbaby.net (in the about jan/babycrafts section).

When Daegan had reflux he spent a lot of time sleeping in the wrap....do you babywear? I can pee with Daegan wrapped up.....figuring that out was awesome!!

Oh and don't worry, there are a fair number of co-sleeping families on this board.

I do wear him in a sling but usually only when we're out. He's kind of long now to fit in a laying down position. He outgrew his infant carrier by height at 4 months.

We ended up going to bed about 12:30 or 1. He woke up babbling at 6. I think I'll just set a really bad example for my 9 and 7 year old daughters and have that float for breakfast. LOL

We don't fit in with DH's peers either - we co-sleep, cloth diaper, are anti cry it out, and babywear. We do vax on schedule and our DD still doesn't watch tv except once a week for about 15 minutes. That counts for something, right?

Oh how funny! We don't cloth diaper, but DH took the boy in his Bjorn on his first Home Depot visit at 4 or 5 weeks. Baby wearing at the hardware store! LOL

I tend to carry him a lot. We do vax on schedule. I'm soooooo very not made for CIO. Just about had a nervous breakdown when we tried that with our 9 year old. When she was a baby, not at age 9.

We began co-sleeping for safety. When the 9 year old was a baby, we would wake up to find her in bed with us. But she started the night in her crib and neither of us remembered going to get her. Well, I woke up one night in the hallway with Maggie in my arms. Scared the crap out of me. We decided she would sleep with us until she was sleeping through the night.

I am also a lazy nurser. I don't like to get up in the middle of the night. Easier to roll over and latch the baby on and go back to sleep. We did do formula with Maggie and that was a major PITA. Hated having to mix those bottles.
