  • WHOO HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DS is almost 100% potty trained! FINALLY!!! Only one accident in 5 days! I am so relieved. I completely gave up in despair about six weeks ago.

Then, a couple of weeks ago, DS moved classes in daycare--up to the "big kids'" wing. He was so proud--now he's a Big Boy, and can go to the Big Kids' Playground at school.

The night before he started in his new class, I told him, "The teachers in your new class expect you to be potty trained. No more baby stuff. If you can't be a big boy, you may not be able to stay in your big boy class." A total lie, but I told it to him gently. He looked very serious and responded, "Ok, I will potty train now."

And he did. The next day, the first day of his new class, his teachers asked me why he was in diapers--that he went to the potty all day long and stayed dry.

I was shocked. I thought they had confused me as the mom of someone else's kid. Nope, they meant me. They told me to start putting him in underwear.

It was just like the teachers had said it would be, all along: one day, he'd just decide to do it.

Good for you! My 2nd did this almost exactly. Kids are funny when they put their minds to it!

We have no answers. The truth is they do it when they do it and there is no way to make them do it. My next kid can go to college in diapers for all I care. I intend to just keep putting them on the kid until he/she says "I'd rather use the porcelin facilities, thank you Mother."

Thanks. I am so excited...for BOTH of us!

The funny thing is: I'd bought him this little kid potty to use. He hates it and refuses to use it. He hops up on the regular potty, and sort of widely straddling it. It looks horrifically uncomfortable, but he's much happier with it.

I think he likes the finality of the FLUSH.

If he's really small you might try the Bjorn potty seat. We use those b/c they go right on top of the seat, and they are super easy to use and easy to clean. And much more comfortable-

But hey if he likes to rough it on the huge seat, great for you all!

                  Congrats!!!

Aloha from paradise! And the other side of training!
