he took a MAJOR header off his bike today. the right side of his head is so puffy. from his lower cheek to his forehead. his little eye is swollen shut. im afraid to send him to preschool tomorrow. he keeps waking up...leading me to be online at 11:45 at night.

Poor guy. I hope he's ok. If he keeps waking up, you might want to keep him home from lack of sleepy.. may end up being grumpy at school.

Ow. That's always so scary. As frustrating as the persistent waking can be, honestly I think it's a good sign with a header -- concussions are always so tricky.

ITA. A few months ago, DS fell off a 3-foot ledge onto his eye onto a gathering of HUGE ROCKS (yeah, that was a bad mommy moment). Anyway, I had to keep getting up to wake him that night to make sure he was rousable (sp? that doesn't look right). I'd much rather he'd woken on his own!!

Anyway, I hope your little guy is doing better today.

thanks guys. he is FULL of spunk this morning! ready to rock and roll...daddy just took him to school...with the fear his school questioning us. thankfully (?) he has scuffs on his right arm and leg that match his head. he ended up coming to bed with me and demanding i hold his hand all night.

I remember being worried about sending Quinn to school with what looked like ligature marks on his throat. I'd found him standing on the back of the couch having taken the blind cords from two windows and twisting them together and then leaning into them (with his neck??) to see if it could hold his weight.

I just decided to point them out to the teacher and tell the story. And Quinn and I had a long talk. Yet another reason I hate blinds.

I'm glad he's got his spunk back today!

i caught the kids playing with a jump rope tied to the tree two days ago...with it around their necks! no marks tho..and the jump rope isnt allowed to be tied to the tree anymore.

what is it with kids and tying stuff around their necks???

My friend's mom used to tie him to a tree outside. He doesn't consider it abusive, and she readily admits to doing it. It was a long rope, so they seem to think it was a reasonable way to keep him safe - but not in an abusive way.

That woman was / is crazy.

I've sent kids to school with all sorts of visible bumps and bruises- and I've never been asked. I think the kids have been, but they are always eager to share their war stories.

Poor guy though! Hope he heals up quickly!
