teething woes

My gal is teething something awful-possibly molars...she has been a fussy fussy babe during the day, and has woke up screaming around 2 am for the last few nights. I'd been getting up with her, but she is only consoled if I'm walking with her or letting her nurse all night. (neither lets me sleep very much) My "girls" are so sore! And DH just got a terrible cold from the pediatric ward, so he hasn't been much help. I feel like I'm running out of Mommy steam! Hopefully we'll get through this soon.

Tylenol.

It's the only thing that kept me from jumping out the window.

I read something once that said that the reason why they get teeth as infants is because they don't remember the pain as adults.

Piggyback Tylenol and Motrin. That's what we did. Helped immensely. I think you give one of them every 3 hours. Motrin seemed to help my kids more.

Same here with my kids. I give tylenol (which can be give every 4 hours) then an hour or two later I give motrin (which can be given every 6 hours) that way they're covered. Motrin always worked better on my kids. When DD broker her molars she had bleeding gums and a 104 fever for 3 or 4 days, during the holidays to boot.

I agree with the Tylenol and Motrin....and I hate medicating the little guy. Also check her latch. When Daegan is teething he gets really sloppy with his latch and it chaffs my nipples something awful! I have to continuously take him off and make him relatch. It stinks waking up in the middle of the night to correct his latch, but it's saved my nipples and our breastfeeding relationship.....the only time I talk about weaning is when he's teething.

Oh and I've let him suck/chew on a refrigerated wet washcloth...he likes that better than the teething rings...oh and I've also given him bottles of expressed milk and he'll chew on them too.

Last night we all got a little more sleep (at least I did- I think I slept through some of her wakings). I was giving her motrin, but not with the tylenol...will have to try that. It's always a tough decision whether to get her when she wakes or let her be and hope she settles herself. With every tooth that has come in so far, she has been miserable. Thanks for the advice.
