  • I don't get it

So, my IL's visited this past weekend, and my MIL had an iced coffee on the coffee table in the living room. Well DS toddles over to it and looks expectantly up at her (because God-forbid anyone eat or drink anything without sharing with him). So, she grabs the iced coffee and acts like she's going to give it to him, then stops and says to me, "Oh, Do you mind if he has some?" ummmm......YES. So, I say, "Well, we prefer he doesn't have coffee." She says, "Oh (acting surprised), ok."
Sometimes I just don't get grandparents...

I think grandparents just forget EVERYTHING about common sense parenting when they see those cute little faces. It's so frustrating!

My mom gives my 3yo coffee all the time, along with diet coke as well. Each time she acts like she didnt know she wasnt allowed to have it.

Grandparents. . .you gotta love them. I think they have the vantage point of seeing the big picture. They raised kids for 18+ years, they turned out "well" and they probably don't see the "big deal" with one little sip of coffee. Our grandparents sort of live for the moment.

          We're going on 1 week with MIL here. I love her . . . I love her not . . . I love her . . .

I remember when I was able to go to Starbucks and get myself a fru fru coffee drink. Then my mom took all the kids and got them fru fru coffee, and so now for me to get something it would cost $20 if I want to drink it in peace.... Because they all expect it now.
