Re: Book recommendations for 3.5 yr old?

Some great books have been mentioned! I'll add the ones the boys chose for bedtime reading tonight: Frog and Toad and Henry and Mudge books. They're good old staples. Also, Leo Lionni, kind of Carle's precurser, has some very good stories. I have also found that my kids like Silverstein and Prelutsky poetry (forgive if I spelled either wrong).

Laura Numeroff's books are pretty entertaining as well.

Just wanted to update that we picked the Skippy Jon Jones books for him and he loved them. He's been reading it every week since we gave them to him for Christmas. Thank you again so much for ALL your recommendations, I'll be sure to keep this list handy for future birthdays and holidays!

I know I'm late here but my DS LOVES David McPhail -- especially "The Puddle" and "The Bear's Toothache."

We also like Mercer Meyer especially "One Monster After Another."

Good job finding books for your family members.
I cringe when all my SIL's kids every get is action figures and DVDs.
