  • AAP recommendation FYI

DH just got the latest AAP newspaper which has the article about how the AAP is retracting its stance on holding off eggs and peanuts to infants until 2y. Now, the AAP says it is OK to give eggs (the entire, not just the yolks) and peanut products to infants when they start solids, as early as 4 months. There has never been evidence to substantiate the claim that delaying the introduction of eggs/peanuts reduces the chance of developing allergies. Just thought you'd like to know if you haven't heard already.

Good to know. For some reason the change in position on peanuts suprises me though...

      I guess that makes sense.

Personally, I'm a worry wart - my nephew has a severe peanut allergy and my grandmother had a mild one as well... I know that we will be holding off for the next round of kiddos. But DS lives on peanut butter sometimes.
