  • I'm getting an itch...

to have another baby. The logical side of my brain says "wait until next year" DS will be three, you will have time to save some $. DH will be a fellow and will have more moonlighting opportunities. Maybe I can stay home, or at least work part time.
BUT the Mommy side of me sees my "baby" at two years old, talking, playing like a big-boy, and weighing over 30lbs! Of course, spending my weekend working in the newborn nursery didn't help matters, either! There is one baby in the nursery for DCYF reasons. He's 1 month old and such a sweetie. Ahh...I love rocking those new little bundles. They fit so perfectly in your arms. The little squeaks, the sweet smell...

No, stop it! You have a plan. Wait until next year... On the other hand, why be so stuck on plans?

    Just sharing some inner dialogue...

We're there too. We were convinced we were done. We sold and got rid of all the baby stuff, and after months of discussion, scheduled a consultation for DH to get a vasectomy. Last month when I went to my annual gyn exam, I had talked to my ob/gyn about removing my IUD and then it hit me like a truck. I'm not ready to close that chapter of my life for good.

I've had tremendous baby fever since. It's really not a great time, but really when is? Now that DH is starting to get the fever too, I'm thinking this might be more than just a passing phase. YIKES!

Hear ya! I had my annual exam today and DH asked me to get my IUD removed. We haven't had enough discussions about this and I am not ready since he is the one going to work everyday. My OB said it is really nice to she a father is happy about having more kids when many men are the ones not wanting the larger families. I, too, have ridden our home of all baby equipment as we finished with it. I just don't know. Baby fever is alive and well in this house. We have names. I think we are insane.

        Yup, insanity abounds here.

We have two kids that are manageable now. We're out of diapers. We have the symetry and balance with our girl and boy. We have a father who works. all. the. time. Having a baby now would mean having three kids in three very distinct phases, and a nine to ten year age span. I've given a lot of our baby things away.

...and yet I can't stop thinking about just one more. It doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Am I crazy?

          Yes. Yes you are. :>

Seriously, though. I am watching two babies this week, and I am so over the baby bug. The thought of doing this full-time again makes me want to scream or cry, but you all get back to your itches, I'll watch from here.

I am ready to get the baby train rolling this summer. My 20mo is SO cute, asking for 'pow' (powder) during a diaper change and insisting on wearing big sister (she-she)'s backpack all the time.

Cleary...yes. Do you think they'll give us joining padded rooms? I prefer the traditional white walls, you? I would hate to clash.
I think psychodelic colors would be better for me. They'll go so much better with the intense psychotropic drugs that I will definitely need. Maybe we can even watch The Wall and Clockwork Orange together.

Hmmm...all this talk makes me have the munchies. Space cakes anyone?

Um, yeah. Count me in over here. The itch is small but it's growing, and DH isn't making it any better.

                  Is this spring fever?

We're still planning #2's arrival for after the end of residency (June 2009). I think.

What is this itch you speak of?

I am soon to be the mother of three and honestly have never itched in my life.

I'm pretty sure I'm the weird one here though.

Most people I know "itch" at one point or another in their family planning scheme.

Scratch away....I'll go fix myself another milkshake and let my adjustable pants out.

                      Re: I'm getting an itch...

DH is much more prone to the baby itch, and I'm much more prone to the "go get snipped NOW" itch.

Of course, I love holding a newborn. I really do. But the first year is so much work! I'm a little scared right now... But excited too.

Also, I agree with Heidi about other kids-- my own kids, great. But other people's newborns--- not so much! I'm the last one to volunteer for the nursery room at church or other places-- I like kindergartners. They're much more my speed!

Aloha from paradise! And the other side of training!

                            Re: I'm getting an itch...

Mark me down for "manageable, happy itch." Meaning I can stick to the plan to wait a little, but I'm already looking forward to it.

At my six-week postpartum appt. the CNM was talking to me about didn't I think this had all gone very well, and yes I couldn't have hoped for better than this etc. And then she kind of grins at me and gives me a knowing look and says "I think you'll be doing this again." And I could only grin back and nod.

My niece and nephew were 11 months apart, though, so I remember all the reasons that route isn't for me! :thud:

And lordy I hope I never have twins!
