JlynnB wrote a few months ago that having her daughter was a lot like having a puppy in the house because of biting, etc.
Let's just say that we have our own puppy. We are in the trenches of potty training. A couple of weeks ago, my son saw some of his older boy cousins standing up to relieve themselves. I didn't think anything of it until the other week, he ripped off his diaper and tried relieveing himself while standing up ... on our couch!
My hubby and I made our 6,754th parenting mistake and giggled. BIG MISTAKE. Now the whole world is a urinal. He thinks that this is hysterical. He came to me the other day after spying the furnace duct and asked if he could go in there. I told him that he could NEVER go pee in there, only the potty or his diaper. Can you even imagine trying to clean urine out of the heating ducts of our house or breathing in that stuff in a closed up house in a Minnesota Winter. UGH!
I think that we have curbed this behavior but my reinforced parenting lesson is NEVER laugh at your kids for inappropriate behavior. It just fuels them on. I realize that this would be a humorous anecdote if it was happening to someone else.
