My friend's daughter goes to a Montessori school in Atlanta. She just told me that when she turns 14 months, she moves up to the toddler room where diapers are not allowed. All kids start potty training at that time. She says they all run around in training pants ( not pull ups) so they can pull their own pants down to go potty. I was really surprised. I know in other countries kids train really early but wow, 14 months just seems really young. DD1 didnt even WALK until 15months much less pee in the potty!!

Re: 14month old potty training!
Truth time? My daughter did this and....FOR US...it did nothing because I wasn't on board at home. It only generated a CRAP LOAD of laundry (huh huh...another potty joke). I picked her up and put her in a diaper. I love most things montessori, but this one did not fit with our lifestyle because I was working, had another child, and trying to prep the house for a move. I both understand and believe the sentiment behind it, but it just didn't gel with the needs of the entire family.
Basically, you prepare the environment so that the child can be successful. So what if it makes it harder for the whole family to accomodate the laundry and mess? The children whose parents follow through at home do potty train earlier.
For the record, DD didn't fully train until 3 years two months. BUT, we had a LOT, and boy do I mean A LOT going on.
KellyIn my dreams I run with the Kenyans.

Re: 14month old potty training!
I think that's kind of young to require no diapers. I worked at a Montessori school before I had my DD... the toddler program there started at 21 months and they do start potty training then, but they still use diapers until they are ready for big girl/boy undies.
