Anyone got homeschool materials, lots of canned goods, rice and blueprints for a bunker?

The older I get the more I seriously consider becoming a modern version of Swiss family Robinson. It's nuts out there.

oh angie. this whole thing makes me sick. SICK! it is my biggest fear, as i am sure it is with most parents.

i say pull them out and chain them to your hip. i totally would....or homeschool.

i hope things settle down and that the school year can be finished w/o any more incidents.

False alarm. The principal emailed everyone today to say the police determined it was a grandparent who didn't have the time to talk to the teacher....so they left quickly when she came over to find out what they were up to. Pesky grandparents!! Clearly, they don 't live in our paranoid age - and they were also unaware of the recent abduction attempts.

I'm glad this was nothing after all. I'm also glad the school responded so quickly, although it does make you think that it isn't just paranoia flying around here these days. Both abduction attempts were in the paper this week and apparently the police are upping all there patrols. According to the paper, the little girl was approached when returning home from her bus stop - and the car/stranger was parked in her driveway. If I were that mom.....I'd definitely be chaining the kid to my waist. That sounds targetted to me.

What a dumb grandparent! Videotaping your grandkid (and a bunch of strange kids) on the playground at school? I bet they're embarrassed now though.

I could see myself being 1st in line for pickup, and doing drop-off directly into the building (uhh .... close to what I do now) until someone is caught.

We had something similar happen at a catholic school here last year and it was also a grandparent, they just don't think the same way.

I would definitely be functioning on hyper-heightened alert. DEF-CON 1.

I'd be sure to carry a camera and a pencil/pad with me at all times. At least, if you seem something untoward, you might be able to get some info.
