  • Update: I feel better already

I just had the meeting at the school and I'm feeling soooo much better!!! I met with the principal and extensions teacher and we talked honestly about Andrew's strengths and weaknesses...and I really feel like we are going to be able to work together with him to address his needs.

As for the volunteering..I will just have to come into the extensions lab and help the students who come in who had trouble doing the special math packets that they have. This is much more manageable than the idea of having to teach a class to elementary students..I just don't have the right training.

I feel much more positively about things now!

    Kris,

This is great news. I know that you and I have talked about this before, but I never realized that one of our biggest roles as a parent is "advocate". It is so hard sometimes (hello--I only have a two year old so I have only begun to see what you're talking about.) I feel so sorry for kids who have no one to advocate on their behalf. They have to just slip through the cracks. This thought makes me want to become a foster mother. (Somebody slap me back into a reality check please.)
