I totally agree that you are in the hardest stage..ever!
Personally I struggle with 16 months until about 3..then smooth sailing! DS1 is 12 and I have enjoed each and every stage (since 3) more and more...we haven't reached the teen years yet, but I'm not too worried.

Am going to try out the Y now...thanks everyone!

Uh...your thread here is absolutely deep compared to the one I wanted to start (but didn't) on recommendations for leave-in conditioners that won't weigh-down normal textured hair and won't affect color tint.

In light of the "serious" current political events threads, I was too embarrassed... A different day!

I have to agree that 16-30 months is very trying. All impulse and no control. They are still quite pre-verbal and unable to express their full range of emotions and they get frustrated by wanting to do all the things that other big kids can do.

I am loving 5. DS is sweet (and sassy) and very helpful. DH is still working like crazy, so I have started enlisting the little guy to help with stuff around the house. I think giving them a sense of purpose and engaging them in the functioning of the household is essential. Not only does it ease some of burden (DS can easily empty small garbage cans and take the bags outside or put his dirty clothes in the hamper) but it teaches them lifelong skills that they will need.

Sorry to get off on a tangent, but I do think that engaging them in stuff is key to heading off some of the difficulties. That and mind numbing, brain melting repetition.

Gotta have some practical posts in there with the heady ones, too. After trying to catch up on the Sarah Palin thread, I'd be glad for one on conditioners.

Yeah, the fun part is watching them learn new things every day. If I had nothing else to do, this would be a great age!
