  • Narrow High Back Booster w/ harness

I need a high back booster w/a harness for DD2(middle back seat of van doesn't have a shoulder belt).

When we all go somewhere in the van (DH,Me,SIL,DS1,DD1,DD2,DS2) it is a total PITA to cram DD2's carseat between the older 2 no-back boosters. Trying to buckle and unbuckle the older two is a nightmare. W/out her seat they can do it on their own.
So any of you ever have this problem? If so tell me what type of car seat you found to work best!

No help here, but I'll be watching if anyone else has ideas. With another kid on the way, we're going to have a rough time of it on family trips. We usually have a dog crate in the back of our van when we travel, so it would be nice to fit all three carseats (and boosters, eventually) across the middle row, leaving the back row folded down.

If Davita doesn't respond, PM her. She mentioned a high back/narrow convertible seat to me, but I can't remember the name. I also know that Nellie knows one that is narrow & a booster, but again, can't remember the brand.

      I'm kinda helpful ....

Shoot -- I can't remember the name of the booster we have for Anna. Next time I am in the car I'll look and then post.

It is a narrower width and folds up nicely. It also articulates so you can put a seat forward to access a backrow.

I plan on getting the Radian when E outgrows his carrier, not sure if I'll get the 65 or 80. We have 3 seats across the back.

We just got the Sunshine Kids Radian. It's narrower (is that a word?) than the other boosters. Plus, it has tons of safety features that hardly any of the other seats have (steel plated back, I forget the name, but a strap that lets the seat ride down the force of a crash, not your kiddo, etc). The base is much narrower, the shoulder area not quite as narrow. The bottom folds up for carrying convenience while traveling. We really like ours, but it was tricky to get a tight fit into our cars at first. I definitely had to play with it for a while.

I am so impressed that you guys know so much about car seats!

Contrast this with my DH: We drive a 1997 Ford F-150 Supercab (one of those "three-door" pickups--has a backseat, but it is not particularly comfortable for adults--fine for kids in terms of space). My husband bought a bunch of stuff at the store and then couldn't get DS into his booster seat. Instead of MOVING THE BAGS around, he just moved the booster seat--TO THE FRONT SIDE PASSENGER SEAT!! Even I, Bad Safety Mom of the Year, know that this is a HUGE no-no. And, he didn't even turnoff (which you can do, with a switch) the airbag in front of that seat!

When DS came home, ecstatic about getting to ride "like a grown up," I wanted to murder DH. I am pretty sure that it may have been illegal in this state!!! I think all children under five MUST be in the backseat.

I swear, there are days when I think, how could you possible f**k up something so simple????

DS now holds DH to the test: WWMD? If it feels like something that Mom would say "no" to, he can suggest to DH that maybe "we should call Mom."

Sure thing. If I don't do it in the next few days, feel free to remind me.

We just bought the Radian 80 and are happy with it.....easy to install and DS is comfortable in it. It is heavy, but I think that's the case with most combination seats.

One plus for anyone who does a lot of air travel....it's compatible with the Go-Go Kidz Travelmate and it fits nicely in airplane seats.

Which seat did you install it in? Just curious about the middle installation, there are mixed reviews.

We have it in the outboard, passenger side seat with a rear-facing Britax Roundabout next to it (I have a mid-size SUV, but it has a smallish back seat.) We had it installed in the middle at first and were able to get a good fit...but decided it would be best to put the baby in the middle.

Davita, will you have it rear or forward-facing? I read that rear-facing doesn't work in all cars since the seat-back is so high on the 80.

I want to have it forward facing. We have a honda passport.
