  • Mommy tips needed

    1. Is there any easy solution when the elastic adjustable waistband disappears into the pants?

    2. My girls chew to bits or lose the straws that come with the take and toss sippy cups. Is there any alternative to the straws? I keep buying the whole set of cups, tops and straws when all I need is the straws.

snip a slit into the waist band, attach a safety pin and wiggle it out to the end.

buy the straw cups with the flip tops.

dd#1 and ds have backyardigans, and other dd has a pretty purple one. you can buy them in twos at toys r us.

dd #2 is like this, but purple..

    dd#1 and ds like this...

We use zip ties around belt loops to tighten Daegan's pants.

I can usually dig out the elastic band with a sharp pencil. It takes a little while but it works. I'm sure there is a more elegant solution.

I don't know about the cups. We just get the ones with the spouts. I'll bet my kids would do the same with straws.

i've used a crochet hook to get the elastic back out.

My kids dump water through the holes in the take n toss cups. If your kids don't do that (as in, they actually leave them upright to drink out of them) you can probably just buy disposable straws to slip through the holes. If the straws are too long, snip them to the right length.

I've used a crochet hook, too. Or, what I do most often is to pull the elastic all the way out attach a safety pin, and then work it through. This would save you from having to snip a hole - unless the elastic is sewn in partway through, in which case you obviously couldn't pull it all the way out.
