    Yep!
Isn't this true? I always thought this was a myth that doctor's families get better medical care until I had to visit the ER when DrK was a medical student. We weren't even engaged yet, he was just a student, and he didn't even work at that hospital but boy did they jump when he showed up in his scrubs. And I could not believe how respectful they were and how much they let him participate in my care.

      MrsK,
You could not be more right! I didn't believe it either, but it's so true!!
Example: I was sick recently, and went to a GP who couldn't figure it out. The second visit, DF showed up straight from the hospital and that guy got VERY serious. That is something I genuinely appreciate!

To everyone who has contributed on this (very long) thread:

Really, thank you. This is such an outside of the box thing for me, and even though I did extensive research, I always felt it best to poll those who had "gone before me" in these situations. Every word and example has really helped me come to the decision, and also let me know how to deal with bumps in the road properly. I cannot wait to be "Dr. K" myself (come on, PhD!), but in the meantime, it's nice to know that I can be an informed and responsible Mrs. K.
I promise to keep you guys informed on when we decide to go into another form of uncharted territory... which again may be sooner than we originally thought.

      Thank you!

        Continuing the ...

I've had two doctors bill insurance only when they found out that my husband was a medical student/resident. I know that they could definitely use the extra money from my co-pay, and it really meant a lot to us. Doctors are awesome!
