  • Diaper bag recommendations?

I think the only thing left that I need to buy before this baby arrives is a diaper bag. I had one picked out, but I looked at it at Babies R Us today, and the main pocket doesn't seem to hold much (JJ Cole System bag), but maybe it would be okay?

Anyway, I'm curious to see if any of you have recommendations. I'd like to spend under $75 if possible and I think I'd really like a messenger-style bag since I tend to wear purses like that a lot. Even just recommendations of certain brands would be good since I don't even know where to start looking!

    Thanks in advance!

I have a Skip Hop Duo which I love, its not messenger but Skip Hop might have some other styles that are.

I also have a Very Bradley bag which I also love.

      I have this diaper bag

and while it's definitely not cute , I love that it's a backpack which leaves my hands free and isn't slipping off my shoulder as I'm trying to juggle two kids and bags of groceries.

We have this bag - we had the same one the first time around and it is small and unisex so dh isn't leary of using it. The strap is long enough to wear it across my chest - important when wranging both kids.

The very best diaper bag is the one on sale. My SIL used to use cute kids backpacks for her diaper bag. They were fun, cheap, easy to carry, and easy to replace.

Very true! Amazingly, I think I found one on sale that I like! Cheri, thanks for the Skip Hop recommendation - there is a Skip Hop Dash style on sale at Babies R Us that seems like it will work out well!

Sandy once posted a link to instructions on how to "hack" a Timbuk2 bag to make it into a diaper bag.

One huge difference between the men in my family and dh is that dh carries my purse all the time, and for extended periods of time. He also took a decidedly feminine looking Le Sportsac bag as carry-on for his recent trip.

It was this style. And it screams women's tote bag, doesn't it?

I can't recommend it b/c I've never used it, but I may buy it--- the Land's End diaper bag-- I think it's in the $30 range? The thing that makes me want it is that it has a changing pad that goes the whole length of the diaper changing tables, as per reviews on some websites...

With smaller flowers, but pretty much the same! I got it at Filene's Basement for super cheap, and dh always said "wow, that bag is so light and so practical!" It's pretty much his bag for when he travels.

I don't know, Sandy - I'm hoping Timbuk2 comes up with an actual diaper bag, because the zipper going all the way along the top could cause issues when you've only got one hand free, no? But what do I know....

alison, that is so funny that your DH carries that bag, looks like it would make a great diaper bag though.

I just followed that link, Alison... That is....

                              HILARIOUS!

My DH took serious heat for carrying a military duffle bag with him around the hospital- it had his otoscope, etc., etc. We're talking ugly, army green, military... And everyone made fun of him so much for his "man purse"...
