  • Edema in the first trimester?

OK...this is really strange...but last night I noticed that my fingers were really swollen. I tried to get my rings off and nearly broke a nuckle....they're still on. My fingers are really swollen...I notice it when I bend my fingers, etc...and I'm really concerned about my rings already being pretty much stuck.

I don't remember having first trimester edema before...and certainly not this early in the game....

Have you eaten anything salty lately? I think the early pregnant state can be a lot like extreme PMS -- bloating, etc. and while I don't remember swollen fingers specifically, I certainly remember feeling bloated.

      PMS

Well, I can relate to the PMS feelings...it's like I'm on an emotional roller coaster...really...up and down, up and down....I finally managed to get the rings off, but it took an extreme effort...I'll need to check what I've been eating and lower the salt content..thanks for that suggestion 8)

        Kris,
I agree with the diet theory. Have you had an OB check up yet? Best of luck to you. I loved being pregnant, and am just a tad envious!!! I do enjoy hearing about everyone's pregnancies. Take care of yourself.

You know you are a medical spouse when: you say "edema" instead of using laymen's terms.

.....and when your friends tell you they're pregnant and you immediately ask the date of their last menstrual period (LMP) and can calculate their due date in less than 20 seconds, you know you're married to an obstetrician!
