Not to be a jackass or anything, but the authors of the whole Babywise series is Gary EZZO, along with a Dr. Richard Bucknam.

When we had our first baby we got the whole set given to us as a gift. We also got the "what to expect" books, along with some other books. As it has been stated, the books are good reading, and that is exactly what they are.
The ways to bring up your own kids is a very different process for everyone, even for every kid for that matter. You as a mom/dad have your childs best interest at heart, the books only offer different perspectives.

You aren't a jackass -- or maybe I am one, too -- but I was thinking of posting the same thing!

Matt, thank you very much for the correction on the author's name. Sorry for mispelling it repeatedly.

Luanne, I agree with your advice wholeheartedly and completely (Sally's as well).

no1kate and tired and poor it is regrettable that you cannot hear my tone of voice when I am "speaking" over the internet. I am disagreeing and I did use the word "ignorant" in the correct context but you are obviously reading an emotion into my words that I am not. That is unfortunate, but oh well, things like that happen. When a person mentions a parenting practice that has been shown to harm children I will always take a strong stand against it, and that is precisely what I did. Sorry if you don't like that.

I agree that we should just lay this topic to rest since 1)people are taking offense over the disagreement and 2)I am moving in a week and need to focus my energies on that.
