  • Candy detox?

Anyone else out there battling candy detox with their little ones? O.K. I'm batttling candy detox for myself too! As soon as the little guy saw the basket, he just started pounding the candy and didn't stop the entire day. His first words to me this morning, "Candy, mommy?" Ugh.

I spend the whole year cajoling him to try just one bite of non junk food and then I undermine myself on Halloween, Easter, Christmas, Birthdays, and Grandparent visits. Dinner time is bound to be stressful tonight.

    I too feel your pain.

Yesterday Drew was swallowing candy....there didn't appear to be any chewing involved. Of course with DW irritably pregnant, and MIL just being a Grandma, I got stuck with the dinner duties, and yes it was not fun to say the least!

Oh boy, you are not kidding! Bryn was on a roller-coaster of sugar highs and lows yesterday. She was so wound up with having people over, going to my mom's that she couldn't really sit still for meals (sugar jitters) and finally at 6pm last night ate a huge bowl of pasta. I think that was her first real meal of the day.
We went through some of the candy last night and discarded what seemed to be the least favorite. So far, no one has noticed.

I was horrified yesterday at my mother's house to watch my 7-year old breeze by the candy dishes and take a few M&M's without even asking me!!!

Mom said that's just what she's used to doing at Grandma's. So it's a habit... I have all the candy from Halloween and on, and sometimes, as the pile grows larger and larger, I think I should let her have some of it, but it always slips my mind... Now I know at least that she's getting her candy fix, every time she goes to Grandma's!!!
