  • Summer Tips for Moms...

Lets start creating a list of good ways to beat the summer blues for moms!!!

We are hitting all of the area parks. Today we went to a park that has a free pool (only 2 feet deep, but does the trick). It was so much for the kids, who got to see some of their friends from school...and I got to chat with some moms!

We have also been going to the playground at the elementary school. They have a summer childcare program there and many of the kids are also in my children's classes...so they've been able to play with their friends al week!

Any other ideas?....especially for the moms about to move and start over this summer...

We keep our beach bag fully packed in my trunk and hit the beach a couple days of the week from 3-5.

We have been reading a classic fairy tale (Aesop, Grimm, Arabian Nights, etc) every night before bed.

We pullled out the ice cream maker and ate ourselves silly on sugar, cream, and chocolate chips.

We go bike riding and hiking (i.e. me carrying him) as often as possible.

      Wow, Kelly!

We've been making it to the pool at least 3 times a week (easy when it coincides w/ swim lessons).

Good idea on the icecream maker. Eric was telling me about all the fabulous gelati he ate in Italy and I thought I'd try my hand at it. A little more work that regular icecream but it was really yummy -- the flavor was very good but the texture was a little off. Maybe has something to do with the icecream maker being 25 years old! Bryn enjoyed watching the cannisters spin in the machine and diligently added an ice cube whenever she thought is was looking a little low. Definitely something we will do again!

Lots of evening walks and play dates at the park. Trips to the zoo, etc.
