I just got back from the airport after dropping Amy off. She is flying to Paris and then on to Prague to visit her Dad. It really felt strange seeing her so grown up and on her own. I know it is a little neurotic of me, because she is 19, but I cried all the way home from Philadelphia.

My mama always said that she wanted to raise her kids to be kind, capable, and independent individuals, and damnit we left and became exactly what she wanted us, only to leave her behind. Empty nesting must be so hard. You have my highest sympathy. The silver lining is that you will never regret letting Amy explore the world and become her own person. She will much happier and healthier human being because of your letting go. Besides, you always have grandkids to look forward to.

Boy I wish my Mom was as caring as you are Luanne. I dropped my parents off at the airport after an agonizing week of them visiting. (First time in 6 years I might add) and my Mom didn't even hug me goodbye.

There are somethings that you know that you can do better at than your parents and by golly I know I am a much better parent to me girls than she was to me....Sorry for the rant. I have a really hard time adjusting to my sons being 13 and 15 now and can only imagine what you feel.
