They are exceedingly well-made.

I will pipe in and say if you are going to buy it, buy it now. DD has had her bitty baby since three and her looks like me doll since 5. This toy is so expensive that I want her to get maximum use out of it. I will say that she and her friends play with them all.the.time.In my dreams I run with the Kenyans.

We are not an AG house either...the couple Barbies & Disney Princess dolls(like barbies) that they do own, spend the majority of their time in the bottom of a basket of miscellaneous toys in their bedroom.
We are however a house that has a very expensive& prolific collection: DS XL (3...at one time 4 but returned one that broke to Costco) 3D DS(2) and a 3D DS XL(1) and the amount of games is shameful.
To my defense I only buy game cartridges for the DS handheld game systems, X-box or Wii, from Kohls.com when they are on sale AND I have a 30% off coupon! I have really saved considerably by making that the rule! The nice thing about most of the games is that they ALL share & can play them, so spending some bank on them makes more sense! hijack over

We don't have AG, but the catalog comes to our home. My 10 1/2 year old recently expressed interest in one, but then poured through the catalog to see if she would want to save her money for one - her reply "Mom, I think $100 is a lot to spend on a doll. I think I need more time to make a decision."
Momo- Dh has an X-Box, and we have a Wii, he loves Gamefly, due to not having to buy the games that he would "beat" and never play again. Just a thought. You can get games in good condition for inexpensively, too.Gas, and 4 kids

Note to self: check into Gamefly this week! Thanks C

My dd has a Corolle. She's had it for almost half her life, and she goes with us everywhere. Dd rocks the doll to sleep, pretends that she's a librarian and does story time with the doll, pretends that the doll is sick and that she's the doctor. It's great for role playing, teaching dd how to be gentle (no poking eyes, grabbing limbs, etc.), and new words. I was going to get dd a new Corolle doll for her birthday, because her current one is so gross and no amount of washing helps. She looks a lot like the doll in Toy Story 3!
I would like one that looks half Asian, half caucasian, but the Corolle Asian doll is just so wrong looking with its slanted eyes and yellow-toned skin. Seriously?! I want to get dd a Bitty Baby, because she loves dolls so much, but the price scares me.
I'd say if your dd has a history of playing with dolls, then go for it. Why not? It's for the parents, too.married to an anesthesia attending

DD7 didn't know about AG dolls until she was 6. We did get her one for Christmas last year because it was the only thing that she was asking for. I do think that the dolls are expensive, but they are also very good quality. I bought a knock off from Target for my 4 year old and it hasn't held up nearly as well. This is one case where you really do get what you pay for.
Also, DD7 has played with her doll every day since she got it! There are no other toys in my house that I can say that about! We have a mix of Target brand, Walmart brand, and AG brand accessories and she plays with all of them equally.Cranky Wife to a Peds EM in private practice. Mom to 5 girls - 1 in Heaven and 4 running around in princess shoes.

I had Samantha (no longer made) and my sister had Molly when we were younger. Some of my fondest memories are of playing with my doll and reading the books. I also did not get all the accessories, but it was always so fun looking through the catalogs. We still have them at my mom's house 20 something years later and they are in perfect condition.
