  • 5th Birthday Party

I'm hitting a brick wall - I can't come up with anything fun to do for A's birthday party. She's going to a pottery/painting party in a few weeks so I'd rather not do that. I could have it at our house but I'm not sure what we would do for fun. I'd rather do a location that does everything for you.

There will probably be about 10-12 girls plus her little brother. Probably the Saturday after New Year's...

Ideas/Suggestions? Fun birthday parties your kids have had or gone to??

We are planning a panda party right now. It was DD's idea, but ive really come up with some fun ideas. If you're interested, I can give you a play by play of everything.

Pump it up, monkey joes, or a similar bounce house place if you have one close.

Do you have My Gym or Little Gym? They also do a great job.

Cora's is at My Gym this Saturday!

We did Monkey Joe's last year and were happy with them. She's been to one at a candy shop at the mall and a couple at the indoor playground at the Y. There's a local farm that does bday parties as well as field trips.

There are a couple free monthly kids' directories (here they're called Midlands Kids Directory and Palmetto Parent for example) that have a birthday issue, listing as many local venues as possible once a year--surely KC has something like that?

        5!! How did this happen?

Do you have a zoo or science museum? They usually do parties. Are they too old for Build A Bear? If you wanted to have it at home, I always thought a doll tea party would be fun, where the guests bring a doll or stuffed animal with them.

We've been to parties at gymnastics places, bounce house, horseback riding and painting pottery. For pre-K most of the kids last year did the bounce house place. My kids really liked the gymnastics parties.

I was going to suggest the American Girl store but that's for ages 8 and up, apparently.

Is there an airpark near you? It's essentially a place where the floors (and some of the walls) are trampolines. They usually have sections set aside for younger kids with close supervision and where older kids are prohibited so no one is injured.

We do have a new air park, ours is called SkyZone. DH would kill me, he hates trampolines!

These are some other good ideas, I've thought about the gymnastics and I'm sure A would love a tea party party. I guess I need to decide if we're doing all girls or co-Ed.

I'm not a fan of trampolines, at all, but the airparks I've been to are pretty well supervised and have good safety rules.

I think we had a treasure hunt at my 5th.
Either that, or it was the year we had a "half-birthday" celebration - I am a Dec. baby, so my parents planned a water-themed party in June. Super soarers, slip n slide, bubbles, etc.
