  • Doll Organization

We have hit critical mass on dolls. A has several Barbies that were given to her by the neighbor girl, complete with a Jeep and Corvette. She has lots of clothes and accessories.

She also got the set of Princess "barbies" which is like 8 dolls, shoes, outfits, etc.

She also got an American Girl Doll, about 3 outfits, and a tea set.

I'm trying to figure out how to organize it. Right now she has a different Rubbermaid tub for each set but I seem to the be the only one who actually puts things away in them. There are pieces strewn EVERYWHERE and I don't know how to reign it in.

    HELP!

My In laws have an entire room (formerly a formal living area) packed to the gills with doll stuff. With Christmas, I think the count is up to 16 now...

    Good luck!!!

The furnace would solve this problem.

Not a helpful thought, I suppose...

I'd probably do one big box for Barbies with a smaller boxes of doll clothes and accessories inside. I wouldn't attempt to keep each of the Barbie sets seperated. I'd keep the AG doll, clothes, and teaset together in a seperate box. Make sure the boxes are the sort that A can open and close herself.

We got a large vintage (hard) suitcase that slides under their bed. I'm going to reline it with a bright, modern fabric. We just increased dolls by 50% so I'm going to start looking for a few more vintages suitcases in descending sizes and stack them in the corner. I'm hoping to find different colors. You can separate each doll/accessories or clothes, shoes, dolls, etc. I have an old, tall Target TV amoire in a cubbie corner. I'm giving the unused TV away, and I'm going to line the amoire with cute contact paper, insert some shelves and use it for AG furniture storage, etc. We have three girls. What can I say?

Another thought: Those shoe organizers that hang on closet doors, the ones with the the clear pockets (one pocket per shoe) work really well for storing barbies and her tiny clothes/accessories. Just make sure that A can reach what she needs.

We use clear bins. One for Barbies. Stuff gets thrown everywhere so one bin is easiest. I tried separating clothes and dolls. It wasnt worth it. AGO stuff is stored in knock-off Target Armoires. We keep bins for Pet Shop, My Little Ponies and horses stacked in the toy closet. It's also easy to take one bin away if it needs to go into a timeout.

Uh, I have three girls and they don't get that kind of cool stuff. Can you come over to my house when you're done?

I do what MrsK suggested...big (pink, of course) tote for barbies and furniture, smaller tote inside for clothes, and another for shoes and purses, etc. (Please note: it usually ends up all tossed together.) I have separate totes for the AG doll/stuff, My little Pony (HATE mlp!!!), and those little dolls like Polly Pocket and princess and all that. They're good about keeping those types of things separate, because when you want to play with it, you want all of it. We also rotate the boxes, ie all the polly pocket, strawberry shortcake, littlest pets (ugh) is in the basement.

I'm laughing because you talk about MLP and littlest pets the way I talk about Thomas trains. IDK why I hate Thomas so much. He never did anything to me unless you count the time K2 split my scalp open with a Thomas train - but that only cemented my dislike for Thomas. I'm sure I'll dislike the action figures even more. I buy them for my nephews and I don't even know what they are.

Also, for some of that tiny stuff, tackle boxes work well too. My brothers used them for matchbox cars when we were little.

I can't stand Thomas, either! I think because the show bored me to tears the couple of times we tried to watch it. I don't feel that towards the Chuggington or the Brio trains.

It was better when it was Shining Time Station. I remember it fondly

                        Zoe has this http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S89857541/
                        trofast-storage-combination__0092763_PE229477_S4.JPG

She has the pink/red ikea kid's set, so she has pink/red container with lids and a white drawer and a green drawer.

We taped pictures of her pet shops, polly pockets, barbies and american girl doll stuff on each storage bin.

It works like a charm...seriously best investment ever!

I SO wish we were near an IKEA, I've thought of that often since we moved into this house!

I love that each container comes with a lid too .... for us, buying this made the difference between her stuff scattered everywhere or shoved into everything and keeping it all organized.
