  • Summer Camps

I know it seems early to think about it .... but I just signed all kids *gulp* up for one week at Concordia language camp. If I had been able to choose, I would have sent the older kids for a month or two weeks at a minimum but alas, there is no money tree. As it is, I had to put $1500 down *cough* and then will make payments on that. This will give Thomas and I an actual 5 day VACATION! Yay US!

Other camps will include Dorian Music camp for Amanda and Alex.

Beyond that, I'll just be planning to travel with them.

Anyone else getting their summer camp plans together?

I have to get on summer plans. Dd10 will be doing a ballet intensive with the Nashville ballet. Just not sure of the length yet. Ds12 will be doing sport camps in town. So far football and lacrosse, he might add on wrestling but it's a weeklong camp for 8 hours a day and he is worried about the intensity of the camp (it's like signing up to be beat up for 8 hours a day not just with the wrestling but the conditioning, it's seriously nuts). Ds16 will have football all summer and he would like to find a job and take some golf lessons. Dd18 is planning on summer coursework/job/volunteering (gotta build that premed cv,lol). I should probably find something for dd4 but I'm just not sure yet. And of course, like Kris said, all these things cost money so that is a huge driving factor.

I think we will be looking into swimming lessons this year. Our local rec group starts gymnastics at 3, so we will have to wait a while, but that's probably next on our list.

We'll be doing golf and swimming, I am sure. Who knows what else.

I'm not really sure yet. I know his preschool does two weeks of art camp. I think where he takes gymnastics they offer something too. Will also continue swim lessons as long as we can get into them.

There are SO many options here for camp! I need to narrow it down.

I need to get moving on this - we have some time but it will come up fast. A will continue with dance, we'll see about gymnastics - they both WILL do swim lessons even if it kills me. Otherwise I'll just see what comes up, I need to keep them busy!

DS isn't quite ready for summer camp yet but one of the Montessori schools here does a summer session that's cheaper than their regular tuition, so I think I'm going to see about signing him up for that. I hope I'm not too late! (His preschool doesn't meet over the summer.)

LM - This is along the lines of what we do, too (although DS's preschool has a great camp which we will do). Everything is daytime programming.

Early summer we are doing the next session of Music Together. When she is older I'm sending her to our tribal summer camp in Oklahoma.

Just signed both girls up for a one-week morning swim camp. This commits me to cobbling together various day camps throughout this summer rather than extending our preschool routine through the summer session like I did last year. Hope I can still arrange to get the kid-free hours I need within the budget we're used to spending on preschool, but it looks like there's some fun options out there.

Daughter and I normally go to a fine arts violin camp together, but won't be going this year. Instead we'll be going to college registration/orientation with my oldest, taking him to fish camp, moving him into the dorm.... Where did the time go????

Still have a Civil War camp for middle one, swimming lessons and a violin camp that is closer to us instead of the one 1000 miles away..

Here you go. It is full now. Hubby is going with him and they can't wait. I wish I were going as well! But this is time for hubby to bond with middle child.
