Baby clothes sizing

Have you done the baby surprise jacket? I loved that one on my daughter. The sleeves are shorter than a regular sweater which is nice. But done up in super wash sock yarn, it is so lovely.

I haven't yet, and I can't decide whether I love it or not. I might just have to find the right yarn though.

True...when I said my firstborn was average, I mean he was pretty much 50th %ile across the board. Except head size...kid had a hyooge noggin. His sister was plumper, she was 75th for weight but I think 50th for length.

You raise a good point. Any baby sweater should have a button at the neck and an opening. The last thing you want to do is wrench something over their little tiny heads when they have no neck control. DD's head was (and still is) in the 95th percentile...seriously, I feel badly that she's going to get made fun of some day...and even now, we have to cut openings in some of her clothes to get things on.

It's fun to do, and doesn't take long (especially once you've done one and have a feel for what you're doing) - I highly recommend finding one of the line-by-line spreadsheets that lays out how many of what kind of stitches for every row; for me, at least, trying to follow EZ's written instructions is crazy-making.

EZ's patterns are defiantly more of guidelines. But the BSJ is so awesome.

I'm kinda sad that my friend has yet to put my handspun BSJ on her kiddo...I think it's probably outgrown by now. I did 3-ply superwash merino, and OMG the squishiness of merino plus the squishiness of handspun plus the squishiness of 3-ply plus the squishiness of garter stitch? SQUISH OVERLOAD. I loved making that thing.
