  • Rash ??

So A has this rash on her face below her bottom lip. The spot on the right of the picture has been there for some time and now it seems to be spreading across her chin. Allergy? Sun? Heat? I have NO idea. Should I take her in? It doesn't seem to be bothering her but she scars easily and I'd hate for this to turn into something permanent...

Almost looks like a contact or food type allergy to me. Phe gets a rash like that if she eats strawberries.

I would put both hydrocortisone and give her some benedryl. If that doesn't help, then I would call the ped.

I'd take her in, docs know rashes. To me it looks a little like the superficial skin infections my kids get, they'll have a rash for a while in a place that stays moist (like around their nose when they have a cold), and my DH will tell me "looks like a little bit of impetigo" and advise antibiotic ointment, and sure enough it usually clears up after a bit.

I think I'd take her in since it hasn't gone away and appears to be spreading a little. Do you think it could be the start of impetigo or something? That's my completely hysterical-over-reacting mom reaction. LOL

That's what I was thinking. When I eat wheat, I get a blistery rash around my mouth. Do you have benadryl gel?

I'm a terrible mom I don't have benadryl gel or hydrocortisone in the house - must get some!

Exactly this. My dd4 is super rash prone. One rash she had for about 18 months was very obvious (all over her body) and a "friend" said, "what's that all over her-- is it contagious?" Nice. Yes dd was sitting right there.

Sometimes rashes take a while to clear and it would be nice to know what it is and have a treatment plan before school starts.
