About $100. That's what my parents did so it stuck. Growing up we never cared of one person physically had more gifts. My brothers understood X video game was likely more expensive than the hair trinkets the girls asked for.

It was the Christmas birthdays that caused the issues...to this day my sister can't stand to have her bday gifts wrapped in Christmas paper. All 4 of my siblings were born in Nov and Dec

I specifically tell family not to wrap A's presents in Christmas paper, maybe that makes me the bitchy mom but being a 12/27 baby she deserves a birthday like anyone else.

My sister is 12/25 and constantly told people that Jesus was born on her birthday.

This is the first year, I just spent what I wanted. I totally went overboard, but we've had many reminders this year of how precious life and health are, and DH did very well financially (my overboard is most likely less than what many Americans spend). I love, love, love to give. For the first time, we were able to donate substantially to every charity DH, the kids, and I chose, give great gifts to our adopted family, and not feel stressed about any of it.
I do make sure my kids have gifts similar in size bc at their ages, that's what they notice.
