  • Funny Nursing Story

I have meant to post this for over a week now, but I never got around to remembering it when I was online.

Aidan was furiously hungry the other day when we were at Wal-Mart..so I sat down on a bench to try and discreetly nurse him. An older woman was sitting on the bench so I asked her if she minded if I fed him...she said "by all means" and introduced herself as a nurse who had worked L&D for years. She proceeded to practically latch him to me herself and then covered me all up with my coat and chatted with me while taking the periodic peek at him (and me, I might add! )

So finally this woman about my age with two little girls walked by and said "mom, come on, we're leaving". The woman said "WE are nursing over here" but got up and got her own coat on...while her mom's back was turned away from her the younger woman mouthed 'sorry'

I thought it was just absolutely the funniest thing...and honestly, I didn't mind her mother's intrusion at all. (Of course, that's because she isn't my mom, I guess!)

That's too funny Kris! She does sound like a sweet lady--I'm always a little impressed when someone from that generation is so pro-nursing since I know in their day it was kind of out of fashion or taboo.

That is too funny. Maybe if she had stayed longer she could have burped him for you.

That's too funny, Kris! Support for BF in an unexpected place and a free lactation consultation.

btw....today when I took Bryn to preschool, one of her classmates asked me where the baby's milk (bottle?) was. I pointed to my chest and I think her eyes about fell out of her head. I guess that she hasn't seen a lot of breastfeeding going on.
