That poor little girl. I'm so glad CPS is getting involved.

I think CPS involvement is a good idea, too. Even if the only thing that happens is that the parents have to take classes to learn to effectively co-parent and/or mama getting help with her anger issues.

Seriously, that kiddo has one shitty home life. I'd totally be the person letting her come and hang all. the. time. at our place. Well, until her shitty parents decided to try to involve me in their bullshit.

What bothers me is that it doesn't seem that CPS is going to get involved. Keep in mind, I only know what I heard for 10-15 minutes so I don't know the whole story ... but the mom was rageful about the fact that the school as mandatory reporters was not reporting things that Jayden was saying. The counselor kept making lame excuses. She would come up with the date of when something was reported to her by the child and the reason it wasn't reported. Mom freaked out and screamed that the psychologist that they are seeing had reported one of the events but that the school hadn't .... that if things weren't reported, the abuse of the child would continue and it was on their hands.

            It was terrible.

I felt awful for the little girl sitting through this. Why on earth would she take her child to the conference if she had the intention of getting all upset like that.

So the mom had asked why the school wasn't reporting the abuse accusations against the dad? Did the mom report these abuse accusations herself? Ugh. I'm sorry. That's just terrible.

Dd6 has a girl in her class who had a big bandage on the inside of her arm at the elbow. The bandage came off revealing a welt. The kids were concerned, asked her about her injury, and she said her father hit her with bamboo until it bled. The teacher had a talk with the class, and a talk with the dad, and I'm sure reported it. This is a heavily Asian community and perhaps, speculating, the dad was doing some form of caning? I don't know. Very confusing. Dd6 said, "why would a dad hit his daughter with bamboo?" I just had no answer. Whatsoever. Except that we need to be supportive friends to the girl and that hopefully the dad will learn about appropriate discipline methods as a result of this...

Another thought...I know that at my school, it seems like CPS very rarely decides that cases have merit, even when the teachers/counselors are sure that abuse is taking place. Also, all of that stuff is extremely confidential, so even if the teacher had reported in that case, she wouldn't necessarily say that she had to a third party. Some of the stuff I have heard regarding abuse in my little school community is horrific, and I don't hear it all. CPS only rarely gets involved.
