As long as you don't complain that the pace is too slow or that your kid is so much bigger than the others, then you're ok in my book.

Not to fluff my own feathers, but I saw my 5 yo helping the nearly 7 year old read. Both kids are in the right class.

Oh, he'll be bigger no matter what. He's a tank, built just like my husband and my husband has been the biggest person in the room (any room) since he was 14yo.

You honestly can never win unless your kid has a feb/March birthday, I swear that's the sweet spot. Not to big or too small or too old or too young.

The big kids (there's one who's maybe an inch shorter than me) CONSTANTLY gets told to be respectful with his body, because he's just so large and he's just trying to get up from the floor or from point A to point B. The little ones get the benefit of the doubt when it comes to physical stuff. Like I'm sure if dd were to try anything, the abovementioned kid wouldn't even feel it.

They're all different shapes and sizes. It's astounds me how much thought we put into how our really little kids fit into their peer groups. It's so so hard.

O did two years of prek. A fours then a fives class. They were both four days a week half time. He's two weeks past the cut off date. He's now six in kindergarten. Appears to be the best fit for him as he's ready for it. I don't think he would have been ready last year. Trust your gut.
