How much do children cost?

Well....we just keep telling them to put it on our tab.
Our oldest, cost us at birth-nothing. I had just lost my job, our only income, DW was in med school so we were Medicaid and WIC until she started residency (7mths). It was an experience to say the least, lets just say that there was a lot of judgment passed. But he was a cheap kid for awhile. The everday costs and such were similar to what others have posted, diapers, clothes, car seats, strollers, burp rags....things like that, they add up, but nothing you can't handle.
Now, our youngest, is a different story! We have good insurance with DW residency, the total we paid for OB appts/birth was about $1500 total. Then we have the everyday costs, minus some with hand-me-down clothes from before, but we still need diapers, burp rags. We also are nowing paying for all the trips that we have had to the ER via ambulance (4) with the seizures, the medications, the follow-ups with specialists...now, I am sure there are others you know, even some here that have had children that needed special treatments/surgeries, and they are not the norm...but they happen and you can make it work into your life. We are facing more than $15K in medical bills, some insurance have paid, some they are still waffling on.
If you want to know the price of children- it is specific to the family, but generally speaking they are priceless when you hold your child for the first time no matter what the billing departments say.
