diaper/toddler bags

Is it just my DH or are all men dense when it comes to leaving the house PREPARED??? I swear he never gives the bag a thought when he goes out by himself with our daughter and they always end up buying a snack and cutting the errand short because DADDY wasn't prepared and ran out of diapers.

Does the learning curve go up when #2 comes?

I hope so! My husband does the same thing with our daughter. I thought it would be pretty obvious to bring diapers along on trips but he also will forget to put a coat (and sometimes socks and shoes) on her before heading out for a walk when its chilly. Lately she's been crawling and he still hasn't grasped the concept that she can get into everything. He leaves his laptop on the floor, wires hanging all over and doesn't give it a second thought.

DH is good with the diaper bag. Fortunately. He lacks common sense on weather appropriate clothes. He is always warm so he thinks everyone else is too. Our toddler will be outside in a shirt and diaper when she should be wearing pants, shoes and a coat. She doesn't seem to mind, but I sure do.

My husband would be sympathizing with you, I'm afraid. He always remembers to grab the diaper bag or at least get it out. I'm the one who forgets to bring it the car when we go out together or when I'm out on my own. And then the baby poops about 10 minutes after we've left the house. I try to stock the car with at least a few diapers and wipes.

I'm getting better though. So, yes, the learning curve improves with baby #2.

I'm sure you are more prepared than most of us!!!

Just have to keep all you ladies honest!!....


I am just being a pill...if the tables were turned, and I was working my a** off, I would be lucky to remember the kid....let alone the diaper bag!!

DH has forgotten to drop my son off with a jacket at the sitter's so many times (remember, we live in Minnesota) that I went to Once Upon a Child to buy a coat to permanently leave at her house. I was embarrassed but I have come to the realization that for whatever reason, I will ALWAYS be in charge of the details.

Still, even though dad dresses him in sandals and sweaters and lets him go around with a dirty face, I'm extremely grateful for his help. I was without a coparent for soooooo long. I will say that he has success in areas that I failed at for a long time---like the eating thing. He can get our son to try almost anything. I guess that I have to remind myself that we each bring different parenting abilities to the table.

Mac is great about bringing the diaper bag with him. It is never stocked though. Guess that's solely my job... Oh well... What amazes me about him is he still asks me where we keep diapers!?! All over the house! Literally. They are everywhere... On top of the entertainment center, in the basement, in the rooms, in the bathrooms... And in the diaper bag, there are always 2 at least, except for when he can't find a diaper anywhere else, and so then there are fewer in the diaper bag, because he robs the diaper bag... Oh well. Thinking about this is likely to send me into labor right now and I can't have that!
