  • Skype lessons?

Has anyone done them with their kids? Zoe is having her first Skype lesson with her violin teacher who is out of town for 3 months. I was a doubter, but it's really cool!

We use them for therapy sessions for our students living in campus once they are established patients in maintenance mode. It works well and minimizes missed class time/stress. Big fan!

I can see how it would be useful in the short term, especially when the alternative might be switching to another teacher or skipping lessons altogether, but it's definitely not something that would be good forever. There are so many parts to playing an instrument that I feel like need to be done in person, like physically correcting posture or fingering.

It was so fun. Her teacher introduced us to her mother and carried her laptop around and showed off the house she was raised in after the lesson.
