Ugh. I’m so ready for them to grow up! Amanda flew to Dallas today and lost her driver’s license in the airport. Of course. She also lost her social security card. Guess who will have to go through her apartment to look for her old license (she found it after replacing it) and/or overnight her birth certificate and expired passport. Sigh. When will they be self-sufficient?

Everybody's different. When I left home I was 17 and I hardly looked back. My parents did send me an allowance (in lieu of paying for room and board) while I was in college, and they did me a solid on several occasions, but I mostly looked to myself to solve my problems. My brother, though, needed a safety net and a landing pad, and didn't fully launch until his mid-20s. We're both reasonably functioning adults now we're in our 30s though! Hang in there -- but do try to have some boundaries. If it's really not feasible for you to drop everything and find her stuff, you don't have to. If you can, then do it as a favor and not an obligation. I bet she's really grateful you can help her out that way!

They are so different, and honestly, their needs come in waves. There are days where everything is peaceful. It would probably be less overwhelming if there weren’t so many of them LOL. Someone always has something going on. So 4 kids can be doing great, and 1 will struggle. We’ll get that sorted and someone else will need something. It’s like wack-a-mole.
