More news from the frontlines of adoption....

We were officially approved by immigration- (and throug this process they have apparently changed their name once again and are now USCIS- United States Citizen and Immigration Services)

They cabled their approval to Moscow and when I called the Adoption Agency, they said that there was one family ahead of us on the "boy list" and about 6 on the "girl list" so, by default (supply and demand being what they are) Stoli will probably be a boy. and now my mother is mentally redecorating the kids room in her house to be all boy since we have Jack now, too. (Jack is the fabulous nephew)

Things are happening- and I will keep all of you posted. August is a slow time though, everyone in Europe takes the month off.

Wow, that's so exciting! Hopefully you'll have the baby in time for Christmas! I don't mean to sound dumb , but do you guys speak Russian, or do you have to learn a little bit for the baby?

That's very cool. If you get the referral at the end of October can Rick go on the first trip? Is his room done (do you do that before the home inspection)? Are you picking out a new name for him, or going with whatever he's already got (besides Stoli, I mean )?

I'm so happy for you. I work with a woman who went to Russia to pick up her baby and came home with the baby and a 5 year old who was very attached to the baby (not siblings) They had to stay an extra two weeks but somehow pulled it off. This was 5 years ago.
