  • Summer movies??

It is raining here yet again.....

I was wondering if anyone else noticed the complete lack of summer movies for little kids this year? I have been trying to find something entertaining and "appropriate" for a 5 year old and an 8 year old. Isn't there normally some summertime kid flick out? I'm thinking of driving to one of those second run theatres to see Shrek 2 again I don't think I can convince my son that something called "The Princess Diaries" is something he'll enjoy. Any suggestions? These rainy days are killing me!!

I'm holding out for the Princess Diaries movie b/c I think my 4 yo will love it. Definitely a girl movie, though. I wish there were more kids movies in the theaters.
It is a rare event when we find a movie that she can see at the theaters because she is easily scared by the big images and loud noises. Finding Nemo was out -- we watched that at home and fast forwarded through anything remotely scary.

My husband and I just had that exact same conversation. After walking out on 13 going on 30 (thought it would be less 'adult') we uttered the same thoughts. Besides Harry Potter and Spiderman (which are admittedly for the older children) there is nothing. Where is this summer's 'Finding Nemo'?

Interesting. Seems like another kid thing stolen by adults.....I remember shopping for an action figure for my son online two years ago and being shocked by how many were for collections and not for playing. (The prices reflected that as well .) I was also wondering if it was because PG doesn't scare off parents so much anymore--hence the lack of G features. But you guys already covered that in the Spiderman 2 thread.....

My daughter also scares easily. My son is not so easily startled. I call him "the young Steven King". He actually said he would go to see the princess diaries, so he must be movie hungry!!
