I am overjoyed to announce the arrival of
Kendall Anne Barnett
August 20, 2004 5:46 a.m.
8 pounds 2.1 ounces
19.5 inches long
On Thursday morning at 5 a.m., I lost my mucous plug. I called three different friends to ask when they lost their plugs in relation to when their labor started. By 10 a.m I knew that I was indeed in labor. I called Sean to tell him to scrub out and meet me and my mom at the hospital. When they checked me they said that the baby's head was to high to break my water and I wasn't allowed to have an epidural until I reached 4 centimeters. Oh. Dear. Lord. Pain like no other.
After what seemed like an eternity, a holy angel arrived, the anesthesiogist, and administered an epidural. Finally, I could rest. After a few hours, the pain returned. The angel reappeared and redosed me twice. At 4:10 a.m., the nurse said it was time to push. She made her arrival at 5:46 a.m.. Although her cord was around her neck twice, she was fine with Apgars of 8 and 9.
She is a strong nurser and the closest thing to heaven I have ever seen. You really can love two children at once. Cade is having some sibling issues (more later) but overall, we are very, very happy. We are home now and life is very chaotic. I am just over the moon thrilled(and it is not just because I'm sucking down pain meds.) This was one of the two best days of my life. I can't believe how lucky we are. You would think that we are the only people to ever have a baby.
I'll try to have DH post some photos here.
