Does anyone here have experience with their child undergoing allergy shots? My son is very allergic to animal dander, especially dog and cats. We try to keep him away from animals, but it is a near impossible undertakign. His allergies are getting worse, not better and his breathing becomes immediately affected upon being in any proximity with animals. Zyrtec helps some, but we still have problems. Is he even eligible for shot therapy at 4 and 3/4? Thoughts, suggestions, commiserations?

A neighbor where we used to live did an allergy & immunology fellowship. He thought allergy shots could really help. I wish I had done it for cat allergies. I didn't because I know it's a couple year commitment until it gets better. And I think you have to go 2x/week at first -- going to a dr's office that often seemed like a PITA. I think that once I did it for a while and didn't go into shock or anything, DH could have done it at home. (Disclaimer: this was for me and my specific allergies and was over 5 years ago. Excuse me while I go scratch my hives ).
