  • my baby was choking!!

We were at a residency interview dinner tonight, and DH was chatting up some potenials while DD was chewing on mini pickle that DH had told me twice not to give her. All of a sudden she started making strange gurgling noises- it took me a minute to realize what was happening. The old ER nurse in me took over and Heimlich'ed it out of her-a big chunk of pickle! It was been like an hour and I am still shaking. It was so scary and horrible. I think I am for the most part a pretty laid back mom but that is all about to change- anal and overbearing are going to be in my future after this episode.

I'm so glad she's ok! Try try try not to beat yourself up over it. I think every mom is famous for doing that, though, myself included!

          Phew!
Don't be too hard on yourself. She's ok and that's why they have a gag reflex. Next time you'll be putting that pickle through the blender.

Oh goodness! I confess, I "choked" one of my babysitting charges on a cheerio! Good thing I'd had that CPR/first responder class. Glad everything is all right now!

Glad that everything is OK- that exact same scenario happened while a friend and I were out for lunch- except that it was a mushroom.

My friend decided then and there that Zach could have solid food on prom night and no sooner!!!

                (luckily that didn't hold true!)
