What are your thoughts on cord blood storage? I've received a few brochures on this and also seen the commercials on tv. Did any of you store your children's cord blood? Chances are my family will never need to use these stem cells, but I couldn't imagine how I would feel if I didn't do this and my child ended up getting leukemia somewhere down the line and then we had to wait for a donor match. I've heard that the estimated 1st year collection and storage costs run somewhere around $1,000 and up which is pretty steep. I'm interested in hearing your thoughts....

we looked into it too and decided we just couldnt afford it. I think though with stem cell research just approved in Ca that major progress will be made.

I thought about it, but ultimately decided against it. I pray I don't ever regret that decision, but it seemed a little too costly.

We didn't do it either. It was way too expensive. But I also hated getting all the information in the mail. I felt like they were trying to take advantage of me (you'll regret it if you don't...) as a new parent. But, like I said, the cost made it a non-issue.

Ditto to all of the above.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I, too, think that it is way too expensive, but all of the commercials and brochures make me feel guilty about worrying about the cost...after all, it is for my baby... I really need to do more research into it, but I'm glad that others have the same feelings as me!
