  • Jogging Stroller ?

Do any of you use jogging strollers? Which ones do you like?

We're looking for a stroller that we can use both for walking our two rowdy dogs and for running. We aren't real hard core runners (we're slow) but we do want to use the stroller while training for either a half marathon or a full marathon. We're also looking for one that won't break the bank.

    Thanks!

I got an InStep stroller at Target for about $100. Even though it doesn't have a front turning wheel (the more expensive models have that feature), it is aluminum framed and lightweight, as well as easy to fold and comfortable for our daughter. I can't say I've really run with it, but I picked it because I like the fact that it's all terrain and it has nice "shocks". It was by default that I bought it (I left the other one in the rental car on our trip so I needed a durable, quick replacement for not a lot of $$). I am happy with it though, and it's not even that huge...you could probably take it to the mall if you wanted to with not a lot of problem. I'm not sure if it's on the website (Target) or not, but I'll look and try to get back with you.

I really hate to put in an endorsement, but we ordered our regular stroller from arunningstroller.com. The owner's name is Marilyn, and she is wonderful to work with. She is very knowlegle and I don't think she will try to upsell you. If you call and tell her what you are looking for, she may be able to suggest a stroller that will be good for you.

I don't know if you ever visit the Baby Bargain's website, but she has consistently gotten rave reviews on that cite. Also, I think she gives a small discount to people that heard about her from Baby Bargains, so you might want to mention that.

Once again, sorry for the shameless endorcement, but I know we were really happy with our purchasing experience. My DH is getting a jogging stroller for his birthday, and I plan to call her back when we are ready to order.

I've got a double jogger that I've used only to walk the kids and the dog. I prefer to run sans kids. I have a babytrend which hasn't quite held up as well as I'd hoped, though I do have to admit that when my canopy ripped after only a year or so of use, the company very promptly sent me a replacement for free. My friends have an in-step that they like, and I know a few people who run with the Schwinn model and like it.

Don't get a cheap one! We got the Graco version and it was awful!! My arms would ache because it was so hard to maneuver and the front plastic cover kept falling down and would stop the front wheel--definitely spend the money for something reliable!!

We have two. A single and a double.
The single is a BabyJogger (or Babyjogger II) and I got it from the babyjogger seconds website. I can't remember the name, but it's something like boolagog.com or a weird thing like that.
The double is a Cougar and can also work as a bike buggy (or a rickshaw or a xcountry sled if you are so inclined).

Love both and don't regret either purchase. The downside of both is that they don't fold down as much as a regular stroller so you need some good car space for them. We only take the bike buggy when we go for a family ride. And only use the single jogger for neighborhood walks and runs. I have an odometer on the single jogger and put over 500 miles on it in two years. I think we got our money's worth -- especially at the seconds price!

              Kate,

You may want to check Consumer Reports online. They have ratings for all sorts of baby stuff, including jogging strollers.

Sorry I'm so late to respond but http://www.joggingstroller.com was very helpful to me while researching jogging/all terrain strollers.

I bought the Phil and Teds E3 Explorer with the extra seat and while I don't jog, I can walk quickly with it and it's a great park/zoo and even a mall stroller too!

Thanks for all of the replies. We did check out joggingstroller.com and decided on the BOB sport utility. It is here and ready for use. Now if the baby would just get here...... Three weeks to go!!
