Can I just say...

I have absolutely no business shopping in light of our current finances, but can I just say that it is so much fun shopping for a little girl! DS is getting to the age where he balks at wearing cute little sailor suits. (Come on now I have to project all of my needs onto my kids. ) Anyway, I am just having fun looking at all of the darling items.

I love hartstrings and Hannah Anderson for both boys and girls. Most of my son's clothing comes from Old Navy (and hand me downs). Where are your weak points when it comes to kids' clothes?

FH and I were walking through a department store when I was suddenly smitten and snatched an itty-bitty leather Oxford off the display and was like "Look at that!! Doesn't that make you want to have kids right now? They have little feet that go in there! Sweet little feet that they wobble around on!" It's a good thing the place was pretty empty.

(FH admitted that he was also smitten with the shoe.)

Hannah Andersson is definitely a weak spot for me. I am on their email list so I get notification for the big semi-annuals sales. Seems that if I wait for the catalog all the good stuff is gone. That's the only time I buy stuff -- it's great quality and holds up really well.
I love the Mini-Boden catalog but that is for looking only.
Oh, and Gymboree and BabyGap. I like the adjustable waistband that they have on some pants. It's essential for DD's pants to stay up! I usually wait for sales and keep my receipts for price adjustments.

Oh my gosh Flynn, I had never heard of Janie and Jack before. Those are the cutest clothes!!

I'll be checking out Janie and Jackie. I love Hanna Andersson as well, though I can scarcely afford to shop there. We mostly buy clothes at Target. I prefer Gap to Gymboree when I can afford either.

I have a good friend who has two little boys and is pregnant with her third boy. She has boxes of little girl clothes that she couldn't resist buying - hoping that one day they would be used by a daughter.

You know, Sally, you could always indulge in buying little girl clothes for future granddaughters (of course, they'd need to be "timeless" things - but that's not too hard to find for little girls...).

My daughter is a bit on the tall, lean side so the "Janie and Jack" clothes fit her really well. The store/online is really expensive full price but I've found quite a few items more than 50% off I purchased and the quality is excellent. You just have to be patient!

I like the Gap too and Old Navy is ok but I hate the store itself. The environment makes me want to HURRY and LEAVE!!!

On the flip side, I have to say that after having 2 girls, I really love shopping for boy clothes! It's all so simple--almost everything goes together. There are a thousand different shades of pink, but pretty much any blue goes with any gray, green, etc.

I had been putting off shopping for Nikolai but since they told us to rush getting the Visas done, I figured I'd better make sure we had clothes for the little dude. The little boy stuff is so cute. My friend Leslie has her little girl in all of the pinks and greens, but the little boy jeans and rugby shirts just crack me up. I went a little crazy at the Target.

I also had to buy a snow suit and I ordered it from LLBean because I couldn't find anything in any of the stores.

I've had a lot of luck with Lands End and LL Bean for kids. Great sales and their winter stuff is WARM!

I like Rosenberry Rooms. They have the cutest children's furniture and room decorations....although they are pretty overpriced. Anyways, I just love looking at their stuff to get decorating ideas.

It's amazing how a lot of the children's clothing out there is way more expensive than the clothes I buy for myself!

Speaking of clothing...

What do 4 and 5 year old boys do to their clothes? My son's clothes are trashed. Seriously, he only has three pairs of school pants left and we still have a lot of winter left ahead. There is no chance of hand-me-downs from this kid.

I like Old Navy, but only if its online, I agree that the in-store atmosphere is awful. I also like The Children's Place. They always have numerous sale racks, and once in a while you can hit a 50% off sale and really stock up.

I think DD's grandmothers have a much worse weakness for these things than I do. My MIL has only boys and when she found out DH and I were having a girl, she immediately went out shopping. She still "can't resist" some things. My mom is the same way. We also get a ton of hand-me-downs. We end up with a lot of really cute clothes, but I don't get to buy any of them. Honestly, I myself have only bought a pack of onesies and a sweatshirt for DD. She has more stuff than she'll ever be able to wear for her size, so getting more is just foolish. That doesn't keep me from looking though.
