  • Kids have radars!

Anybody else feel that their small children have little radars that sense when there is an unbelievable amount of stress in the house? Very interesting to me....DH's written dissertation is due Thursday, MIL/SIL are coming to visit tomorrow and the house is a pit, and I am sick again...and Keelin seems to pick up on all of it, no matter how much I try to exhibit an aura of positivity! She had a hard time getting to sleep tonight, which has been unusual for her lately (it's the night waking that's routine from the ear infections, poor baby), and her behavior has just been kind of....weird and unlike her. Maybe I'm reading too much into a mere toddler, but I thought I'd see if anybody had similar observations with their kids.

I agree! I've been sick most of the week and less attentive/patient and, well, I am noticing it. :|

That's so true! I was watching a special series on the Discovery Health Channel called "The Baby Human" and one of the episodes was about when babies develop their sense of emotion. Babies can sense & interpret emotion on other people's faces at just 3 or 4 months of age. It was such a fascinating show!

          Marla,

Yes, yes, yes. Kids are much more perceptive than we give them credit for. I believe that their life-long internal monologue is forming right now. They are formulating how they see themselves, relationships, the world. It is frightening because this makes parenting a huge task!
