Maybe I was lucky, but 95% of stuff on that list I got from my shower or as hand-me-downs. I am all about thrift stores and I got way too many clothes for her there. The biggest costs for us are daycare, babysitters and wants I have to force myself to stay out of the kids sections at stores bc she already has a garbage bag of 4T clothes, not to mention 6-12 m clothes she will never wear.

I know it is not for everyone, but we use cloth diapers which has saved us alot of $$. I wash them myself, we dont use a diaper service. I also am in a babysitting co-op, which gives us a night or two a month out at no cost. We didnt use pacifiers or formula which would have cost a lot had we gone that route.

Oh, and DD was all about the swing but didnt care much for the bouncy seat at all. We also could have done without the stroller for the first six months- she all but lived in the baby bjorn.

This is another hidden cost but I know I am being anal- I set the heat much higher this winter than I normally would have had it been just me and DH. Our heating bill was twice as much ( could also be bc we are in desperate need of more insulation) as I budgeted for so our little punkin could be warm.
