  • Kinda cute story

On Tuesday Maya had her assessment for the kindergarten she will start this Fall. She is really excited to be going to a Spanish immersion program. So Monday, she asked me all day to work on Spanish with her. We finally got around to it at bathtime, but she was really disappointed that we didn't spend more time on it. It occured to me after I had put her to bed that the poor thing was in a panic about her "test" the next day. She thought they were going to expect her to be able to speak in Spanish. She was really relieved the next day when I told her she didn't need to know any Spanish. I wished I had clued into that sooner so I could have spared her all the stress--apparently she is a little type "A".

That is cute. Poor thing -- test anxiety at 5 years old! How did it go?

She did great--the teacher said she hadn't scored it yet but she pretty much answered everything correctly.

Wow Alison, I can't imagine getting a child under 4 fluent unless you had an English speaking person living in the home. My mil went to an English immersion school in the Philippines, but I'm not sure what the requirements were beforehand.
