My daughter has her first black eye. It is a doozy, red and swollen. She ran into the corner of her dresser last night with DH on call. He worries more than me. All day today he kept trying to feel her eye socket in case of broken bones. She has been milking it today saying she needs ice and to watch a movie.

I'll have to remember to take a picture of it for her scrapbook.

Yikes! I hope that Avery feels better soon.

We have had LOTS of black eyes around here. Fortunately, kids heal quickly so Child Protective SErvices hasn't been alerted yet.

They look so rough and tumble with a black eye. Now that you mention it, I wish I had captured Anna's first.

I told Rick that he better make friends with the ER docs at Walter Reed because it is inevitable that we're going to have the kid that breaks every bone in his body over time. (or all at once, knowing him!) He's utterly fearless and if it can be crawled on or over or under or through, he's right there. My parents haven't exactly kid proofed the new retirement villa, but the VERY first thing they bought after moving in was a Play Yard for Nikolai. My nephew is perfectly content to sit and play with the blocks and stacking toys. My kid however, would prefer to play Olympic Gymnastics...

PS- now I know why the Russian men's gymnists are so damned good.

At least you know which accident caused the black eye! A few months ago, Ethan ran into things and fell down about three times in one day and woke up with a big bruise under his eye that gave the appearance of a black eye...but I had no idea which accident had caused the injury. His daycare teacher asked what had happened and I didn't know what to tell her! I think that little boys should be wrapped in bubblewrap...
