  • What a difference a good teacher can make....

Some of you may know that I had a mini-breakdown as school approached this year. Because of all of the teasing/bullying Andrew experienced, we enrolled him and the others in a charter school. At the very end I nearly pulled them out to homeschool...then a week into the charter school, we made the choice to put them back into the public schools (looong story). Along the way, I felt like I was literally losing my mind. I was seriously feeling overwhelmed and very anxious about things...my dh thought I might have flipped off of the deep end...and I may have.

    Fast forward about a month.....

Andrew has a fabulous, wonderful, nurturing teacher. She is basically...incredible. I'm a little underwhelmed right now about what they're doing academically...but....she has the magical touch when it comes to making kids fit in and be respectful towards each other. She starts each day with music and dancing to get the 'kinks out'....and is so encouraging and warm. He is absolutely thriving. He actually looks better than he has in....well, I can't remember him looking this happy during the school year. He is making friends and started playing saxophone. He practices every day, makes up extra homework assignments to excite his teacher with, and basically he is just becoming so relaxed and responsbile.

It is really amazing what a difference a good teacher can make!
