  • Good stain remover for carpeting

Help! DS spilled yogurt on the carpeting in the dining room and the stain won't come out. I JUST had the carpets cleaned AND scotch-guarded. I tried one of those oxy-things and it's not coming out. Does anyone have an AMAZING stain remover?

P.S. I'm not buying that yogurt anymore. What on earth are they putting in it that it will stain newly scotch-guarded carpeting?? My kid's intestines are probably hot-pink!

The products that I have found to work the best are Bissell Oxykic and Spot Shot. I think you can find them at pretty much any grocery store or Bed Bath & Beyond. Is Bissell the one that you already tried? The Bissell comes in a silver, double canister and Spot Shot comes in a red canister.

I've used both of them to get cat vomit stains (yuck!) out of carpet...whatever coloring they put in yogurt must be the same as what goes in cat food because cat food stains are a pain in the a$$ to get out of carpet! If only my cat would learn to throw up on the hardwoods....

I recommend Spot Shot! It is great! I just bought three cans myself! You can find it at Target.

What color carpet is it? We actually resorted to making a paste out of oxy-clean and then applying it with a paint brush to the fibers that were stained thanks to some hot pink go-gurt. The carpet was white though, so the *bleaching* was ok.

Spot shot is a great product too.

Oops, Spot Shot comes in an orange & blue canister. I was thinking of Resolve which doesn't really work as well.

*Note to self: do not buy brightly colored yogurt!!

Wow, and once again, even though my feet are frozen and my kid wears slippers all day- I am so glad we're a carpet free household. Although we're done some wear and tear to the floors- nothing that another coat of floor sealant can't hide!

I was thinking the same thing! I am loving my area rugs!

btw, I have had yogurt stain a clothes. And it is the "natural" stuff colored with...beet juice. No wonder. Moving to plain yogurt with a little jam mixed in! Berry juice is easier to get out than beet.

I don't think it was Syndey. I vaguely remember yelling at the boys when it happened . Either way it doesn't matter. My dog peed in your house. We're even.
